#FactCheck: Old Dubai Airport Video Falsely Shared as Delhi Airport Footage After Heavy Rain
Executive Summary
A post is being widely circulated on social media claiming that the entire Delhi airport was submerged following heavy rainfall. The post questions the airport’s drainage system and attributes the situation to the negligence of its staff. The post further claims that the airport’s arrangements were exposed after just one spell of rain and that its drainage system needs to be upgraded using better technology. A research by the research wing of CyberPeace found that the viral video is not from Delhi airport but dates back to April 2024. At the time, heavy rainfall in Dubai caused flood-like conditions at the airport, affecting flight operations on waterlogged runways as well. Thus, an old video from Dubai is being falsely shared on social media as footage of Delhi airport.

A minor issue of drainage and negligence by the staff — the public is aware — now the negligence will be punished. ‘The drainage system technology must be developed.’”

Factcheck
As part of our investigation, we conducted a reverse image search of keyframes from the video. During the search, we found the original video on a YouTube channel named The Indian Express, which was uploaded on April 17, 2024. According to the video description, the incident took place in Dubai. The post link and screenshot are provided below.

During our investigation, we found visuals similar to those in the viral video on the YouTube channel AlArabiyaEnglish. The video was uploaded on April 16, 2024. According to the information provided in the video description, several parts of the UAE were affected by flooding following sudden heavy rainfall on April 16, 2024. The heavy rains also affected operations at Dubai Airport, disrupting several flights. According to the report, the UAE recorded a record 254 mm of rainfall in less than 24 hours. In view of the adverse weather conditions, Dubai Airport advised passengers to travel only if absolutely necessary. The post link and screenshot are provided below.

Conclusion:
Our investigation found that the viral video does not show Delhi Airport after heavy rainfall. The visuals are actually from Dubai Airport, where severe rainfall in the UAE in April 2024 led to flooding and disruptions to airport operations. Therefore, the viral video is old and has been falsely shared on social media with the misleading claim that it shows the current condition of Delhi Airport.

Evidence Collection
The investigators encounter two primary types of evidence during the course of gathering evidence: non-electronic and electronic evidence.
The following approaches could be used to gather non-electronic evidence:
- In the course of looking into electronic crimes, recovering non-electronic evidence can be extremely important. Be cautious to make sure that this kind of evidence is retrieved and kept safe. Items that may be relevant to a later review of electronic evidence include passwords, papers or printouts, calendars, literature, hardware and software manuals, text or graphical computer printouts, and photos. These items should be secured and kept for further examination.
- They are frequently found close to the computer or other related hardware. Locating, securing, and preserving all evidence is required by departmental procedures.
Three scenarios arise for the collection of digital evidence from computers:
Situation 1: The desktop is visible, and the monitor is on.
- Take a picture of the screen and note the data that is visible.
- Utilize tools for memory capturing to gather volatile data.
- Look for virtual disks. If so, gather mounted data's logical copies.
- Give each port and connection a label.
- Take a picture of them.
- Turn off network access to stop remote access.
- Cut off the power or turn it off.
- Locate and disconnect the hard drive by opening the CPU chassis.
- Take all evidence and place it in anti-magnetic (Faraday) bags.
- Deliver the evidence to the forensic lab.
- Keep the chain of custody intact.
Situation 2: The monitor is turned on, but it either has a blank screen (sleep mode) or an image for the screensaver.
- Make a small mouse movement (without pressing buttons). The work product should appear on the screen, or it should ask for a password.
- If moving the mouse does not result in a change to the screen, stop using the mouse and stop all keystrokes.
- Take a picture of the screen and note the data that is visible.
- Use memory capturing tools to gather volatile data (always use a write blocker to prevent manipulation during data collection).
- Proceed further in accordance with Situation 1.
Situation 3: The Monitor Is Off
- Write down the "off" status.
- After turning on the monitor, check to see if its status matches that of situations 1 or 2 above, and then take the appropriate action.
- Using a phone modem, cable, confirm that you are connected to the outside world. Try to find the phone number if there is a connection to the phone.
- To protect evidence, take out the floppy disks that might be there, package each disk separately, and label the evidence. Put in a blank floppy disk or a seizure disk, if one is available. Avoid touching the CD drive or taking out CDs.
- Cover the power connector and every drive slot with tape.
- Note the serial number, make, and model.
- Take a picture of the computer's connections and make a diagram with the relevant cables.
- To enable precise reassembly at a later date, label all connectors and cable ends, including connections to peripheral devices. Put "unused" on any connection ports that are not in use. Recognize docking stations for laptop computers in an attempt to locate additional storage media.
- All evidence should be seized and placed in anti-magnetic (Faraday) bags.

- Put a tag or label on every bag.
- Deliver the evidence to the forensic lab.
- Keep the chain of custody intact.
Following the effective gathering of data, the following steps in the process are crucial: data packaging, data transportation, and data storage.
The following are the steps involved in data packaging, transportation, and storage:
Packaging:
- Label every computer system that is gathered so that it can be put back together exactly as it was found
When gathering evidence at a scene of crime,
- Before packing, make sure that every piece of evidence has been appropriately labeled and documented.
- Latent or trace evidence requires particular attention, and steps should be taken to preserve it.
- Use paper or antistatic plastic bags for packing magnetic media to prevent static electricity. Do not use materials like regular plastic bags (instead use faraday bags) that can cause static electricity.
- Be careful not to bend, fold, computer media like tapes, or CD-ROM.
- Make sure that the labels on every container used to store evidence are correct.
Transporting
- Make sure devices are not packed in containers and are safely fastened inside the car to avoid shock and excessive vibrations. Computers could be positioned on the floor of the car,and monitors could be mounted on the seat with the screen down .
When transporting evidence—
- Any electronic evidence should be kept away from magnetic sources. Radiation transmitters, speaker magnets, and heated seats are a few examples of items that can contaminate electronic evidence.
- Avoid leaving electronic evidence in your car for longer than necessary. Electronic devices can be harmed by extremes in temperature, humidity.
- Maintain the integrity of the chain of custody while transporting any evidence.
Storing
- Evidence should be kept safe and away from extremes in humidity and temperature. Keep it away from dust, moisture, magnetic devices, and other dangerous impurities. Be advised that extended storage may cause important evidence—like dates, times, and system configurations—to disappear. Because batteries have a finite lifespan, data loss may occur if they malfunction. Whenever the battery operated device needs immediate attention, it should be informed to the relevant authority (eg., the chief of laboratory, the forensic examiner, and the custodian of the evidence).
CONCLUSION:
Thus, securing the crime scene to packaging, transportation and storage of data are the important steps in the process of collecting digital evidence in forensic investigations. Keeping the authenticity during the process along with their provenance is critical during this phase. It is also important to ensure the admissibility of evidence in legal proceedings. This systematic approach is essential for effectively investigating and prosecuting digital crimes.

Executive Summary
A video showing a completely melted traffic signal is going viral on social media. Users sharing the clip claim that an unprecedented and historic heatwave in European countries like Italy, Spain, France, and Germany has become so severe that modern infrastructure—including traffic lights—is literally melting under the sun However, factual research by the CyberPeace Research Wing reveals that this claim is false. The traffic signal did not melt due to weather conditions; it was damaged by a nearby car fire in Italy.
The Claim
On June 30, 2026, an Instagram user named 'khabribhaiyaa' shared the video with a caption stating:"Many European countries are currently in the grip of an unprecedented and historic heatwave. Temperatures in countries like Italy and Germany have neared 40 degree forcing authorities to issue red alerts. The situation is so bad that modern infrastructure is buckling under this deadly heat. Images and reports from the streets are shocking; traffic lights are melting and dripping due to the extreme heat. Not only this, but paved roads and highways are warping due to excessive temperatures, bringing traffic to a standstill. Additionally, railway tracks and other critical infrastructure are suffering heavy damage."

To verify the viral claim, we extracted keyframes from the video and ran a Google Lens search. This led us to a report published on June 28, 2026, by the Italian website 'ilbacodaseta'. The building structure visible in the background of the website's featured photo directly matched the backdrop of the viral video.

Furthermore, we cross-referenced the spot on Google Maps, confirming that the location perfectly matches the visuals seen in the viral clip.

A report by 'tgverona' regarding the same car accident was also shared on Facebook by wrestling referee Johnny Puttini, further verifying that the damage was the result of an accidental fire, not atmospheric heatwaves.

Conclusion
The claim that European heatwaves are melting traffic lights is False. The viral video shows a traffic signal in Lugagnano, Italy, that melted in June 2026 due to a car fire right beneath it. It has nothing to do with the summer temperature or climate conditions.

In recent months, conversations around the possible shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a basic cooking fuel in Indian households, have quietly resurfaced across the country. From whispers in local markets to viral messages circulating on social media, concerns about LPG availability began to take hold in the public imagination. Though the immediacy of the situation has since faded, its echoes remain, reminding us how quickly uncertainty can spread. Like a ripple across still water, a single rumour can travel far, gathering force as it moves and blurring the line between perception and reality.
Against this backdrop, in April 2026, reports began circulating about a potential LPG shortage. The Union Government moved quickly to counter what it identified as misinformation, emphasising that supply remained stable and urging citizens not to engage in panic buying. A noticeable disconnect emerged between official communication and public perception. Across different regions, signs of anxiety-driven behaviour became evident. Instances of panic buying and hoarding increased, law enforcement agencies conducted raids to address such actions, and opportunistic thefts were reported, often exploiting widespread concern. These incidents highlight how misinformation, even when addressed promptly, can continue to shape public behaviour.
It is worth noting that rising prices also played a role in shaping public response, as increases in LPG rates contributed to a sense of urgency among consumers. Therefore, the surge in panic buying cannot be attributed solely to misinformation, but rather to a combination of economic pressures and perceived scarcity.
Misinformation Ecosystem - From Rumours to Behaviour
The spread of misinformation is occurring at an unprecedented pace and is, in large part, driven by the viral nature of social media. Digital platforms not only enable the rapid dissemination of information but also allow it to be amplified in ways that would not be possible through traditional media outlets. Often, the drive for virality outweighs any concern for accuracy, meaning that many individuals who spread misinformation are motivated more by the pursuit of attention than by any ideological agenda. Recent arrests of individuals involved in spreading misinformation about LPG and petrol shortages, much of which went viral, suggest that misinformation today is frequently driven by the desire for visibility rather than ideological motives. The information being circulated has largely followed a similar pattern, focusing on fears of an LPG shortage, expectations of price increases, and concerns about supply disruptions. Even though this information has not been verified, it has triggered behavioural responses among individuals. In several areas, including parts of Uttar Pradesh and Goa, the spread of misinformation through social media has led to panic buying, despite official assurances that there would be sufficient LPG supply to meet demand.
The impact of panic buying, and its associated misinformation, has already been seen in multiple sectors; these increased demands have placed pressure on the distribution network, leading to disruptions in access, as well as being out of stock of certain products. In many cases, commercial users of products (especially restaurants) have experienced significant disruption, threatening their continued operations, and industry representatives have alerted others about the inconsistent supply of commercial cylinders; likewise, consumers (households) are beginning to switch to alternative products (e.g., induction cooking) as a reflection of the anticipatory mindset to address the uncertainty created through perceptions of Product Scarcity.
State Response: Managing Misinformation or Behaviour?

The government has taken a variety of approaches, from advisories and enforcement actions to communicating with citizens indirectly. For example, State Governments have been directed to combat misinformation, monitor supply chains and take action against hoarding and black market activity. There has been a significant increase in the level of large- scale enforcement activity, with over 3,700 raids carried out to crack down on hoarding and black marketing related to LPG, in addition to confiscating cylinders and issuing penalties to those who break the law. In addition, the authorities have also focused on maintaining regular communication with the public in order to reassure them about the supply of LPG and fuel stability.
Geopolitical Context: Why Rumours Are Believable
Understanding today’s panic requires an understanding of the global environment: i.e., due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, the energy markets are unstable, and energy supply is uncertain not only in West Asia but across a large part of the world. Even if domestic supply remains stable, public perception is affected by global instability. A clear example of this can be seen in neighbouring countries to India; Pakistan has seen significant increases in the cost of fuel, implemented measures such as reducing the number of days individuals work each week, and has created public support mechanisms; Bangladesh has imposed restrictions on the use of energy, has shortened the number of hours individuals can operate businesses each day, and has restricted the total amount of energy used; Sri Lanka has begun to ration fuel, and to increase the price of petrol; and Nepal has reduced the numbers of days individuals may work each week, and has adjusted supply.
All of these examples are not isolated instances, but are markers of a common regional environment. As we live in a global community that is connected in many ways, these developments will quickly affect public expectations everywhere. Therefore, for consumers in India, seeing evidence of rationing of fuel and shortages of fuel in neighbouring countries increases their belief that these types of problems could occur in their country.
Critical Perspective: Between Panic and Precaution
The LPG incident has brought about questions surrounding the nature of misinformation in terms of its definition & regulation. One of the main concerns is whether or not "misinformation" is being cast too widely. To be sure, false claims need to be addressed; however, not everything that is responded to publicly is based on untrue facts, as many times public responses are based on perceived risk via global and/or local incidents that occur. Perhaps the greatest challenge is the difficulty in differentiating precaution and panic. People’s memories of the COVID-19 pandemic are fresh in their minds and will serve to influence their behaviours moving onward, in that many people are stockpiling or preparing for uncertainty not out of irrational fear, but as an anticipatory response to their prior experiences.
Conclusion
The Indian LPG "crisis" is not so much a problem with actual supply chain breakdown as it is a result of how information and behaviour are connected through perception. This cohabitating environment of panic buying, law enforcement, and government assurance demonstrates an evident disconnect and gap between how governments present a narrative and how the public responds. While there is some role of misinformation within this discourse, the misinformation itself extends beyond any or all false claims about LPG supply and operates within a greater ecosystem of global uncertainty and personal experience. As such, and because of this, perception becomes an incredibly strong force in itself that produces true economic consequences.
