Fact Check:
Upon closely examining the viral video, we noticed the Google Gemini logo clearly visible in the bottom-right corner. This raised suspicions that the video could be AI-generated.
As part of our research, we ran the video through the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. According to the results, the viral video is 99 percent likely to be AI-generated.

The evidence gathered during our research establishes that the viral video claiming to show a person cooking biryani using water from a drain in India is misleading. The Google Gemini logo is clearly visible in the video, while AI detection tools Hive Moderation and WasIt AI also identified the footage as AI-generated. Therefore, the video does not depict a genuine incident.

The research began with keyword searches related to the alleged resignation of an “Indian Army Air Defence JCO Anurag Thakur.” No credible or reputed media report was found supporting such a claim. A reverse image search of a frame from the viral video led to the original footage posted by news agency ANI on its official X account on March 22, 2026. The original video runs for 1 minute and 42 seconds A comparison of both videos showed that in the viral clip, the soldier appears to be speaking in English, whereas in ANI’s authentic video, the same soldier is speaking in Hindi while addressing the media.
In the original video, shared by ANI from Bhuj, Gujarat, the JCO explained that on the morning of May 7, 2025, they learned that Indian armed forces had destroyed enemy terror launch pads, marking the beginning of “Operation Sindoor.” He said he motivated his unit and they were prepared to respond. He further stated that on May 8, an enemy drone heading toward a vital location was detected and shot down using minimal ammunition. Two more drones were sent the following day and were also neutralised. He added that “Operation Sindoor” demonstrated the capability of the Indian Army and Air Defence units.
ANI had also summarised the same remarks in English in its post, which further confirmed that the viral version had been tampered with. For additional verification, the audio from the viral clip was examined using AI-based detection tools. Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector flagged it as likely fake, while Resemble AI also identified the audio as manipulated.

The advisory requires that AI models deemed unreliable or under-tested in India must obtain explicit government permission before deployment. While leveraging Artificial Intelligence models, Generative AI, software, or algorithms in their computer resources, Intermediaries and platforms need to ensure that they prevent bias, discrimination, and threats to electoral integrity. As Intermediaries are required to follow due diligence obligations outlined under “Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code)Rules, 2021, updated as of 06.04.2023”. This advisory is issued to urge the intermediaries to abide by the IT rules and regulations and compliance therein.

- The advisory specifies that all users should be well informed about the consequences of dealing with unlawful information on platforms, including disabling access, removing non-compliant information, suspension or termination of access or usage rights of the user to their user account and imposing punishment under applicable law. It entails that users are clearly informed, through terms of services and user agreements, about the consequences of engaging with unlawful information on the platform.
- The advisory also indicates measures advocating to combat deepfakes or misinformation. The advisory necessitates identifying synthetically created content across various formats, advising platforms to employ labels, unique identifiers, or metadata to ensure transparency. Furthermore, the advisory mandates the disclosure of software details and tracing the first originator of such synthetically created content.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for IT, specified that
“Advisory is aimed at the Significant platforms, and permission seeking from Meity is only for large platforms and will not apply to startups. Advisory is aimed at untested AI platforms from deploying on the Indian Internet. Process of seeking permission , labelling & consent based disclosure to user about untested platforms is insurance policy to platforms who can otherwise be sued by consumers. Safety & Trust of India's Internet is a shared and common goal for Govt, users and Platforms.”

Fact Check:
To verify the authenticity of the video, we extracted key frames and performed a reverse image search using Google Lens. During the search, we found the same visuals in a Spanish media report published on January 16, 2025. This confirmed that the video predates the ongoing geopolitical developments.
According to the report, the footage shows a fire at the Royal Park Casino located inside the Cinépolis plaza in Culiacán, Mexico. Local outlet Meganoticias Culiacán reported on X that the casino was “completely burned down.” The structure reportedly collapsed following the blaze, and emergency responders confirmed that several people were injured. Further keyword searches led us to the same footage on the official YouTube channel of Milenio, uploaded on January 17, 2025. The report clearly states that the fire occurred at the Royal Yacht Casino in Mexico and is unrelated to any recent military developments.

Evidence gathered during our research clearly establishes that the viral video is not related to any missile attack by Iran on Israel. The claim is false.
